About
“Language is the only homeland.”
…at least according to Czeslaw Milosz. I am neither Polish, nor exiled, but language is my favorite tool, crutch and life raft. As a consumer, reader and writer, I believe that images convey plenty. But there are times - in politics and romance, in business relationships and ordering take-out - that you have to use your words.
I love to travel and write. Again and again, language is what fills my dreams about a place, fills my journals while there, and what helps me convey gratitude for time and space.
I've been in marketing and communications since 1999, but I've been listening to dialogue, memorizing lyrics and poems, movie lines and advertising my entire life. I love all of it - even the stuff I'm not a fan of, if you know what I mean. Storytelling is a central part of my daily happiness and my business.
My grandparents were AMAZING chats and listening to them - and to everyone around me as a kid - helped me learn to curate The Great Stories from the family rehash.
I've worked in nearly every aspect of marketing and advertising - from researching an entire industry to tracking a project's ROI. Most of my work focuses on developing a brand and messaging to targets with storytelling or targeted messages that support a true brand voice.
Inspiration is everywhere and is often infused into my clients' projects. I look to film, books, TV, magazines, conversations with friends, scheduled downtime to be quiet at the Abbey of Gethsemani or out wandering alone.
[I have a B.A. and M.A. in Literature. I’ve also won 2 ADDYs for my branding and copywriting.]
